The Register reviews the Sony Ericsson W550i and writes, “Aside from the upgradeable firmware and Java support, this phone is POP3 ready, enabling email from a third-party email server. The WAP service is complemented by a fully compatible HTML browser. Hardware-wise, the camera is 1.3mp digital camera with flash. The camera has its own button, but the phone needs to be closed to use it. There’s no optical zoom, but the quality is high. The flash is bright enough to get a clear capture in a dark room. Video capture is easy with such a nice screen.”

CNET reviews the Sony Ericsson W550i and writes, “With the Walkman brand emblazoned on the front of the phone, it should come as no surprise — for people who lived through the 80s anyway — that this is a musical mobile. It has 256MB onboard memory to load your favourite MP3 or AAC playlists, or you can listen to its built-in FM radio (with eight presets).”

3G reviews the Sony Ericsson W550i and has this to say about camera, “At 1.3 megapixels, the camera on the W550i is a little less powerful than the two megapixel version found on both the W800i and the W900i, but it takes pretty good snaps. The camera is really rather satisfying to use, thanks to the side-mounted dedicated camera key, which allows you to hold the phone and take pictures as you would with a digital camera.”
