Sony Ericsson K610i was introduced in 2006. K610i is one of the smallest 3G phones available. PCAuthority reviews the Sony Ericsson K610i and writes, “Unlike the K800i, the K610i does keep the old Ericsson trait of using a blinking green LED whenever it’s on. It uses Sony Ericsson’s excellent menu system which splits functions across subcategories. The only change we miss is that it doesn’t display the time on the screen when it enters standby, it just goes blank.”
Mobile-Review reviews the Sony Ericsson K610i and writes, “When compared to Sony Ericsson K600i new model gained 2mpx camera w/o autofocus, flash and lens cover. In photo viewing mode Timeline mode was introduced, you can launch several Java-applications at once and leave part of them running in the background. At same time there’s no radio, IrDA. Bluetooth technology is v2.0 from now on and has EDR, as well as A2DP profile which allows using wireless headphones bounded with this handset. There are two more buttons in K610i, one is used for accessing Activity Menu (in K600i this button was on the side), second button is used for accessing network. Radio was replaced with music player (K600i had media player), in case of memory card presence this function turns out being interesting. This sort of explains why there’s quite modest size of internal memory, user can use only 16-20mb, depending on the country (in case with K600 it was 32-40). Manufacturer refused to use Flash Lite 1.1, instead there’s SVG Tiny 1.1 Finally we should mention such possibilities as RSS-reader and blgoging. As you can see list of changes is quite big, and not all of them can be described as positive. Lack of Radio for example can be counted as shortcoming.”
CNET review the Sony Ericsson K610i and writes, “Business and productivity features include the NetFront browser — the same one on Sony Ericsson’s baby Walkman, the W300i — for rendering HTML, xHTML and WAP pages on its 4.8 centimetre, 176-by-220-pixel screen. Another way to stay on top of your favourite news sites and blogs is with the K610i’s RSS reader. Tucked away in the Messaging menu, the reader allows you to subscribe to valid RSS feeds and receive updates directly to the phone, either periodically or when you choose to check for new content.”
Mobile Gazette review the Sony Ericsson K610i and writes, “There are two colour combinations promised, Urban Silver and Evening Red. In terms of design, the K610i is a classic Sony Ericsson handset, featuring a straightforward and pretty minimal layout on the front and a nicely designed back (the Sony Ericsson “dual front” concept). And as we said, it’s an impressive achievement to squeeze all of this into a 92 gram device, and it looks smart too.”
InfoSync reviews the and writes, “The K610i is all about balance - the right kinds of features, ease of use and attractive looks. Basics such as voice/video calling and messaging perform with aplomb, while the camera is one of the best we’ve seen sans autofocus. Sadly, the omission of earphones, insufficient memory and limited music controls make for a poor music proposal out of the box, even though memory card expansion and stereo Bluetooth audio support enables a near-full rectification of this predicament for those willing to pay.”. iMobile writes about audio, “Sony Ericsson has included 17 sound files including ring tones and theme sounds, on the K610i. Fortunately a 72-tone synthesiser has been built into the unit and the ring tones are loud and sound very good. It is recommended to use MP3 ring tones wherever possible as these do tend to be of better quality than MIDI files.”
