Nokia 6288 Review

Nokia 6288The Nokia 6288 is a 3G slider. The handset is equipped with a 2 MP camera. CNET reviews the Nokia 6288 and writes, “Like the 6280 (and this will become a familiar refrain), the 6288 is a squarish slider, measuring 100mm by 46mm by 21mm and adding 115 grams to the weight of your pants pocket. The top part of the slider is dominated by a 320 x 240 pixel screen, with the large navigation keys nestled snugly beneath. Pushing the slider up reveals a businesslike grid-style keypad, its rectangular buttons surrounded by a thin silver line. A tiny front-mounted VGA camera is almost invisible, hiding in the top left-hand corner. It’s all very sedate and refined, but also a little boring.”

Mobile Phones UK reviews the Nokia 6288 and writes, “The 6288 is a high-end phone with most of the features found on a smartphone, except that it uses a fast Series 40 operating system instead of a Symbian operating system. It comes equipped with an excellent 2 megapixel camera with a flash and digital zoom, and a second VGA camera for video recording and for making video calls. The display is one of the best on the market - a TFT display with 320 x 240 pixels and 262,144 colours.”

MobileTechNews.com reviews the Nokia 6288 and has this to say about model, “The Nokia 6288 includes dedicated camera and zoom buttons making it even more convenient to record a video or snap a picture of family and friends. Videos taken with the Nokia 6288 can be edited then sent via MMS and email, while Bluetooth technology lets you print pictures directly to any compatible picture printer. The Nokia 6288 weighs 115g and is available in striking cool-white and black colors”.

Good Gear Guide reviews the Nokia 6288 and writes, “The 6288 has a vivid, bright and clear 262 thousand colour display. It is a joy to use, particularly when viewing photos or browsing the phone’s Series 40 user interface. The controls - two selection buttons, answer and End Call keys and a five-way navigational pad - are excellent. A volume control is conveniently located on the right hand side of the unit and a PTT (Push To Talk) button on the other. A dedicated camera button means the 6288 is able to be held as a normal camera with the phone on its side and the camera button acting as the shutter key.”

Eugenia Loli-Queru (OSnews) reviews the Nokia 6288 and writes, “Speaking about Java, Gmail, Opera Mini and GMaps worked perfectly (and loaded really fast), but Google Maps didn’t. The S40 3rd Edition phones use the middle “ok” button as their default softkey instead of the softkey on the left, and so when you try to select a menu item in the Google Maps application, a new menu pops up rather than carrying out the action. I have seen this Google Maps bug in the LG U8500 phone too and it seems that the 6288 is also one of the phones affected by it. “
