The LG U880 is a 2006 model mobile phone. This attractive clamshell supports both W-CDMA 3G and GSM network modes. iMobile reviews the LG U880 and writes about battery, “The rather large 1050mAh Li-ion battery of the U880 allows it to last for seven days and seven hours on standby (175 hours), while allowing for 2.7 hours of talk-time and 2 hours of video talk-time on the 3G network. On the GSM network the phone manages a slightly longer 3.5 hours of talk-time. Recharging the phone takes a little over two hours, due to the high capacity of the battery. ” Mobile Phones UK notes about LG U880, “The LG U880 is LG’s thinnest, lightest 3G mobile to date. In fact it’s a lot thinner and lighter than many 2G phones! It’s an attractive clamshell phone with an internal aerial, and available in black, silver or pink. The keypad is square with flat keys and is easy to use.”
Good Gear Guide writes about LG U880 and has this to say about camera, “The U880 has a 1.3 megapixel camera mounted on a rotating hinge; which means the camera serves a dual purpose (video calling and taking photos). This design sounds fine in theory and is really practical considering the dual use functions, but it isn’t perfect. Our main complaint with the camera is that its last position on the rotating hinge does not sit flush with either the front or back of the handset. This is a minor issue, but you really have to take a little care to ensure its sits flush when you aren’t using it; otherwise it looks as if it is not sitting properly. The camera has a solid list of features, even if the image quality it produces isn’t the greatest. Settings include sizes ranging from 1280×960 all the way to 96×96 (for the front screen display), 2x digital zoom, a self timer, exposure settings and white balance (Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Illuminate, Indoors). Unfortunately there isn’t a flash, instead just night mode, which is barely useable without some sort of light. Overall the camera is pretty standard and the images produced a touch below average - certainly still not good enough to consider as your sole camera.”
CNET reviews the LG U880 and writes about features, “The U880 can play video in a widescreen format, and includes speakerphone functionality as well as dual external stereo speakers. The phone comes with earbuds, but you can’t plug in your own as the connection is proprietary.” Infosync World also writes about video in LG 880, “The interface for video calls is identical with the one applied for phone calls, and proved to be quite user friendly - as was also the case with the camera application. Hardware shortcut buttons to rapidly access each of these three functions represented another positive trait, although mediocre camera performance with blur and poor colour reproduction lowered our initial impression by a couple of notches. ”
3G.co.uk reviews the LG U880 and writes about display, “The internal display is a large 2.0″ colour screen with simple user interface with distinctive graphics. Its large and bright with 262k colours. The external display ( 65K ) is also bright and will work considerably better than a lot of others. If you haven’t tried an LG before the whole menu system may take a little getting used to but you would soon master this and should find it rather slick.”
