Cell Phone Cards – Cheap Prepaid Alternative

October 15th, 2007 · No Comments

Like most people you’ve probably picked up a cell phone from one of many providers available on the cell phone market. The downfall is the contract. They are often long-term from 1 year to 2 or more. This is also based on your credit worthiness which, if not to their standards, will require you to give them a security deposit that could be as much as $300!

Pre-paid cell phone cards give you an attractive option to get away from those expensive providers. Besides negating the high cell phone bills and rates you may also be ignoring your normal house phone charges. There is no contract, just pay as you go. If you need more time, you simply call the company back up and add more time.

You can get out of your cell phone contract but that can cost you big time. Depending on how much time is left on your contract and the company you have it through. Some cell phone companies will allow you to pay $250 or so to cancel early. Others may charge you the monthly fee based on each month that you have remaining. The prepaid cell phone cards are incredibly simple to use. You just need to pick out a carrier, for example boost mobile, and a money/minute amount. You call the number on the back of the card which is usually a 800 number so it’s free. You scratch off the silver covering over the activation code and pin number which you provide to the company that will activate your card on your phone allowing you to make phone calls until the time has expired.
