BenQ Z2BenQ Z2 is a 2005 model mobile phone. The handset with powerful MP3 functions and 3D surrounding sound. Consumers can choose between six equalizers, including Normal, Bass, Rock, Fashion, Jazz, and Classic. A choice of three different modes of playing, including Repeat 1, Repeat All, and Shuffle, are also sure to satisfy the most capricious music lovers. The BenQ Z2 also supports the ID3 V2 function, which allows easy reading of the music lyrics on its 1.5” 262K color TFT display. And for those consumers who enjoy listening to the radio, the BenQ Z2 also has an embeddded FM radio which allows for programming of 20 radio channels. The BenQ Z2 also offers a point-to-point repeat playing function, which is especially useful for those consumers interested in learning a new language.

Mobile88 reviews the BenQ Z2 and writes, “The BenQ Z2 also provides other enjoyable functions, including an embedded 1.3M pixel camera, which is easy to acess with one hand. Consumers have a choice of four different resolutions (1280 x 960 maximum), digital zoom and many different photo shooting environment settings. The BenQ Z2 also provides a choice of ten special effects and continuous photo shooting to assist consumers in creating their ideal photographs. The BenQ Z2 is also equipped with a large 58 MB embedded memory and Mini SD expansion, allowing storage of all photographs, music and data. ”

Phoneyworld reviews the BenQ Z2 and notes, “The Z 2 comes with 60 Mb of memory to hold music and a mini SD card to expand the storage. Competition for this storage space is intense between the built-in Mp3 player and pnboard 1.3 Megapixel camera. The tri-band GSM phone is due to hit the market soon enough and is sure to be something different for those with a flair for style.”

Lordpercy reviews the BenQ Z2 and notes, “The MP3 capability of the BenQ is more than a last minute thought, with a custom user interface, the ability to sort the music on the device by artist / track and album all backed by its support for the ID3 V2 standard, there is also a 6 setting equalizer and 3D surround sound. The storage capacity of the device is a native 58mb which isn’t bad but not much for MP3 files, so additional outboard storage is provided by a mini SD slot which will allow up to 512mb of additional memory to be utilised.”

CNET also writes about BenQ Z2 and has this to say about it, “BenQ, hopefully through the acquisition of Siemens, may yet introduce its own-name phones here on our sunny little isle. For now, we can only admire from afar the newly launched Z2, the latest MP3-phone to join a growing heap of music-capable mobiles, some of which we caught at CommunicAsia2005. Interestingly, BenQ’s chosen a shape less common, specifically a cube. We all know what happens to odd-shaped phones (think N-Gage and Xelibri). Hopefully, the Z2 has a longer shelf life as it sounds promising enough on paper. There’s triband support, 58MB usable internal memory, miniSD memory card slot, a 1.5-inch, 128 x 128-pixel, 256,000-color LCD screen and built-in 1.3-megapixel camera. And, of course, there’s MP3 playback with lyrics display, six equalizers, shuffle, ID3 V2 function, 3D surround sound and an FM tuner. “
